Some people have reported an error when installing the software. They report that after installing 'necessary system files' (which are, in fact, visual basic runtime files) an error is reported where the user is advised that the wrong operating system is being used and to press OK to cancel the install or press cancel to continue.

This error occurs due to an MDAC 2.81 installation problem. MDAC is a widely used Windows system component that implements database connectivity features. MDAC is required by many Windows programs that implement database features. These programmes are installed with ClinTools only if needed.  This problem should now no longer exist since our build 015 upgrade. However, if anyone does continue to have this problem:

Solution:

1. Sometimes the MDAC gets things rather mixed-up (this is Microsoft's issue not ours  ::)). We suggest that the first option is to press "cancel" and just let the programme continue to install ClinTools without installing MDAC 2.81. It is highly likely that you don't need these files installed (which is why the error was generated).

2. If the above fails, see our help file and downloads here: http://www.clintools.com/help/help-faq.html

And, of course, if all else fails contact us: http://www.clintools.com/contact.html
