So, who are we (or rather who am I)?

ClinTools is owned and run by Professor Grant Devilly.

ClinTools came about as a response to an enquiry to buy a student version of a popular meta-analysis software. Told it was $5000 for a licence (in 2004!), I rang the phone number associated with their programme to request whether I could buy a full licence for myself and my student have an ‘input only’ licence for cheaper. I was told to “F-off” (but in full). This is not a nice way to speak to people generally, but specifically not a nice way to speak to someone who is an expert in statistical analysis.

From this point forward it became my mission to make easily accessible and easily understood software to compute effect size analyses. I understood the statistics but needed to learn how to programme. Starting with VB6 For Dummies I progressed to Mastering VB and then Mastering Databases. This progressed to ClinTools. The ‘popular meta-analysis software’ now has student pricing ($95) and is $500 for an academic licence!

meta analysis
01

Population Based

Computes effect sizes weighted by study N rather than inverse variance
02

File Drawer Problem

Produces Failsafe N Statistics (i.e., now likely is it that this result is a response to the need to publish and, therefore has publish bias?)
03

Exhaustive Statistics

All statistics given - not just those that are currently 'popular'.

Our Vision

For students and academics to have cheap, readily available, and precise statistical software that explains what it is doing at every point of the journey.

Our Mission

To provide a credible competition to popular meta-analysis software companies but at a fraction of the price or for free.

Freeware Software

Purely up to you whether you fund future programming through a gofundme page.
